A Baby Elk Named Sage
On Memorial Day we went up to work on the cabin. When we were driving in we noticed an elk lying down in the sage brush. We thought that either she was about to have a baby or had been hit by a truck on the highway. Luckily, it was because she was going to give birth. About three hours later when Aunt Trudy and Grandma were on their way out they saw the baby curled up on the side of the road. It was an amazing experience to see this perfect sign of Spring!
We were able to get really close to the baby. It was cold that day with on and off rain, hail, and snow. I wanted to take off Dad's coat that I was wearing and put it on the baby elk.
The mother was just a little ways off among the trees, waiting until we were gone. (I tried to point her out with a green circle, sorry it's kind of hard to see.)
A New Kind of Bouquet
If you were here Stac I would share this pretty and oh-so-useful bouquet with you. (And I would recommend keeping it outside so as not to fumigate the house.) We chopped up some of these lovely fresh chives the other day to top baked potatoes. Who knew that your herb garden would still be alive and thriving today? Thanks again!
