Stewart Cascades

Last weekend Ames, Cass, and I took a little hike up to Stewart Cascades. They were absolutely gorgeous and it was the perfect time of year (don't let the snow on the ground fool you)! We took a detour off the trail which included some hardcore rock climbing. It is definitely a family-friendly hike and perfect for a morning or afternoon activity.

Here fishy fishy!

One day I stumbled upon a piece of inspiration buried among the unfinished projects and ideas.
It was this.

Mom had made this fish out of scrap pieces of silk, lace, and beads. I wanted to give this whimsical fish a home so I took some more silk scraps and made this.

I need to give it away or donate it to humanitarian aid before I become too attached.

My Summer Ride

If you happen to be traveling along 820/800 North in P-town, you might see me riding this... and I might even wave if I see you. I'm still holding out for a scooter, but for now I'm staying green by commuting on my bike.

Morppie Morp Morp

This was my date (CJ Thornton) pretending to text on the mall's phones.
This was a part of our group. We were in teams so the other two couples weren't with us at the time.
I was really afraid they would get in trouble for sitting on that car.
One of the tasks was to try on a "Flirty Apron". It's a brand name.
Look closely and you'll see a boy's head popping out of the clothes. That was also one of the tasks.

All in all, it was a pretty stinkin' fun date.

Happy Mother's Day!

Here is a little excerpt from the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott in celebration of Mother's Day. I always think of my wonderful mom when I read this!

'Mother, do you have "plans," as Mrs. Moffat said?' asked Meg, bashfully.

'Yes, my dear, I have a great many; all mothers do, but mine differ somewhat from Mrs. Moffat's, I suspect. ...

'I want my daughters to be beautiful, accomplished, and good; to be admired, loved, and respected; to have a happy youth, to be well and wisely married, and to lead useful, pleasant lives, with as little care and sorrow to try them as God sees fit to send. To be loved and chosen by a good man is the best and sweetest thing which can happen to a woman; and I sincerely hope my girls may know this beautiful experience.

It is natural to think of it, Meg; right to hope and wait for it, and wise to prepare for it; so that, when the happy time comes, you may feel ready for the duties, and worthy of the joy.

My dear girls, I am ambitious for you, but not to have you make a dash in the world-marry rich men merely because they are rich, or have splendid houses, which are not homes because love is wanting. Money is a needful and precious thing-and, when well used, a noble thing-but I never want you to think of it as the first or only prize to strive for.

I'd rather see you poor men's wives, if you were happy, beloved, contented, than queens on thrones, without self-respect and peace.

'One thing remember, my girls; mother is always ready to be your confidante, father to be your friend; and both of us trust and hope that our daughters, whether married or single, will be the pride and comfort of our lives.
